Why buy from us?

We began retailing Dutch bicycles and accessories at the latter part of 2003 and since then have built up a considerable knowledge and experience in both using and retailing Dutch bicycles and products.

When you buy from the Littlehampton Dutch Bike Shop, you're buying from a trusted source - a real bricks and mortar shop with real staff who are here to help you not only make the right choice when it comes to buying a Dutch bicycle or a quality Dutch cycle accessory, but also, and equally importantly to provide you with after sales service.

We ride our Batavus bicycles, our dog uses our Doggie ride trailers, our friends and relatives all ride our bikes, use our panniers and so on. So when you buy from us, we guarantee that whatever it is you're buying, we've given the product a really good test in real conditions.

You're also very welcome to visit our showroom, view and test ride our range of bicycles and accessories prior to purchase.

The Littlehampton Dutch Bike Co LTD has become a trusted name in the UK.  This reputation is something we've had to earn and something we're very proud of.

Our aim is for happy customers, so if you have a problem with anything you buy from either our shop or online, please do let us know and we'll do our utmost to put it right.

Therefore if you buy something from us online, are unhappy, you can return it to us for a full refund - all we ask is that you cover the return postage and that you return the item to us in unused, saleable condition within 14 days from the date you received the item.

When returning the item to us, please do contact us first, so we can issue you a returns number - that way we can keep a track of anything you return to us.

Delivery Timescales

With cycle accessories - eg, baskets, child seats, locks and so on - we aim to despatch your order within 14 days of your placing your order. Usually, we will despatch your order to you on the same day you place it, or the next working day. As soon as your order is ready for despatch, we will email to you let know it's on the way.

We're not a drop shipping company, so everything you order is sent to you from our central warehouse in Littehampton. To do this, we employ staff - so when you buy from us, you're helping with local employment.

FAQs on your Order

When will my order be despatched?

We aim to process your order on the day you place it, or if this isn't possible, the next working day. We carry a large amount of stock of Batavus bicycles and our accessories. Occasionally, if the item is out of stock, you will be advised of this by email and no money will be taken from your credit or debit card until such time as we're ready to despatch your order.

Your order will be despatched on a 3-day courier service, and you should allow 3 - 14 days for your order to arrive.

What's your returns policy?

If you order your product via our Mail Order Service, as opposed to ordering in store, the law allows you a 7 day cooling off period. If you wish to return any order to us, you may do so, provided the item you return is in a new, unused and saleable condition within 7 days of your receiving it. You will have to cover the costs of returning it to us, and refund, less initial carriage costs will only be made once we have received the goods. We recommend you send your returns via a signed delivery service.

Damage

If your order is damaged, then you must advise us immediately of this. Please check your parcels when they arrive as if you don't and subsequently inform us of damage, we cannot claim against our courier company. So it's vital you inform us immediately.

If you notice the packaging shows signs of damage when your order arrives, please note this fact on the consignment notice from the courier company. Note the words 'damaged' on whatever you are asked to sign. Instances of damage are thankfully rare, however, we can only claim for damage, if you inform us immediately. If you don't then we both loose out.

Return Carriage

When returning any goods to us, you are responsible for paying for return carriage. We strongly recommend you use a traceable service where you can verify that the goods have been sent and accepted by our staff.

Refunds will only be issued when we have receieved the goods in an as new condition.

How will my bike arrive?

Your new Batavus bicycle will arrive fully assembled and will have been pre-delivery inspected at our workshop prior to despatch. All you will have to do is attach the pedals (instructions are provided on how to do this) and turn around the handlebars around (as they will have been turned to fit into the box) and you're ready to ride.

What sort of warranty do we get with our bikes?

Batavus warranty - 10 years on the frame - 2 years on the component parts (subject to the usual warranty conditions - ie, you don't misuse the bike and so on.
